Local software company digs deep for the RNIB
23th Apr 2010
Staff at local business software specialist Concentrix Ltd have begun a voluntary project renovating a garden for RNIB students in Loughborough. The project, which involves extensive garden redesign, is part of a charitable initiative by the company to devote time and resources to good causes within the local community.
Over the next two weeks, teams of three and four Concentrix staff will work on the garden each day. Around 30 staff at the company have volunteered, swapping their desk-jobs for digging, weeding, moving rocks and laying a new lawn.
Asked about the initiative, Ian Dawkins, Concentrix Managing Director said, “It's really important for businesses to help the local community. Before we started the RNIB garden was in a pretty poor state and we hope to really improve the environment for the students.”
As well as providing volunteers, the company is also supplying new turf. The project is due to be completed on Friday 30th April.
