Important Information about GoldMine CRM Software and Microsoft SQL Server

4th Apr 2011

This information is important if you are currently using GoldMine CRM software and wish to buy additional licences. If you've recently purchased GoldMine or are buying the product for a brand new installation, the changes to Microsoft SQL availability will not affect you.

When you purchase GoldMine, the popular small to mid-market, on-premise CRM software by FrontRange Solutions Ltd, you also need to purchase licences for Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft SQL Server is a database programme which GoldMine needs to function properly (GoldMine won't work without Microsoft SQL Server).

Microsoft recently removed old versions of Microsoft SQL Server (Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005) from its pricelist. This means it is only possible to buy the latest version, Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

While this has no impact on organisations installing GoldMine for the first time, it will impact organisations that have previously purchased the product with the older versions of Microsoft SQL Server and want to buy additional licenses of GoldMine.

If you are not using the latest version of Microsoft SQL Server and want to add more GoldMine users, you will need to upgrade all licenses of Microsoft SQL Server to Microsoft SQL Server 2008. In addition, only GoldMine Premium Edition 9.x and GoldMine Corporate Edition 7.6 are supported with Microsoft SQL Server 2008. So, if you are using earlier GoldMine versions you will also need to upgrade to the latest version of GoldMine.

If you're a GoldMine user and are unclear about how these changes affect you, or for advice on what your next course of action should be, or for further information about GoldMine or any of the other CRM software solutions supplied by Concentrix, please contact us.
